Announcing the Emery Dress Pattern!

Nearly a year in the making, I am so happy to finally announce that the Emery Dress is finally ready! If you remember, I had to put this pattern aside while I finished writing my second book, so to be able to finally share the pattern with you is so rewarding. I know my fellow pattern designers that wear many hats understand the challenges of releasing a pattern, but let's just say that it is so much work! But enough about that, let's hear about the dress!

Welcome to the Emery Dress! For me, this is the ultimate dress. It's the dress I always want to wear and had yet to find the perfect version out there. So instead of searching, I decided to design my own perfect dress!

There are two versions, with small differences. Both versions have a fitted bodice that is shaped with bust darts, waist darts in the front and the back, and darts at the back of the neck. The gathered skirt on both versions is a full a-line skirt that hits around the knee, and features in-seam pockets that are sewn into the waist so they aren't flopping around under your skirt. Both versions have a fully lined bodice, invisible zipper up the center back seam, and a fat 2" hand sewn hem.

View A has short set-in sleeves and a flat 1960's style bow at the center waist. View B has 3/4 length set-in sleeves and a vintage-inspired flat pointed collar.

As with all my patterns, the dress is sized from 0–18 and all sizes are included in one envelope. The packaging and branding is changing a bit with this pattern from my past patterns, and my old patterns will eventually change as well. Instead of a printed envelope and separate instructions, the instructions are formatted into a handy booklet that is enclosed in a plastic sleeve along with the tissue paper printed pattern.

The dress is now available for pre-sales and will ship to those that pre-order the first week of October. Sales after the pattern is available will ship on a normal shipping schedule.

Thanks so my amazing pattern testers, I can say with 100-percent certainty that this dress looks fantastic on all sizes, and looks amazing in many types of fabrics. The consistent thread amongst all the pattern testers was that they loved the way I installed the in-seam pockets, the set-in sleeves were the easiest to fit they've ever done (and still fit well in wearing), and that with their muslins the bust darts were close to perfect out of the package. These words are a pattern designer's dream! If you sew, you know that some shifting here and there is normal, but to get close to perfect with no changes is a wonderful thing to hear! Look for loads of images of all my testers in their gorgeous Emery Dresses in the days to come!

Huge thanks to Shaerie of Sew L.A. for letting me shoot my dress photos in the shop, to my co-workers Haley & Devon who rearranged their lives to accommodate my shooting schedule, to the beautiful Ruth for modeling the Emery Dress for me, and to my fantastic pattern testers that caught all my errors.

I hope you all love it! Go pre-order yours today in the shop!
